On Saturday 18th August 2012 the Winsford Trust invites you to a reunion garden party at the former Winsford Cottage Hospital between 2.00 – 4.00pm.
- Have you been involved in some way with the Winsford Cottage Hospital?
- Did you work there or know somebody that did?
- Were you born there? Or did you give birth there?
- Have you been a volunteer?
- Were you a patient? Or were your parents ever patients?
If you have images, records, pictures or memories, please bring them with you as we would love to add them to our Winsford Archive and make you part of the building’s history. You won’t have to leave things with us; we shall have many ways of copying and recording them during the afternoon.
The Former Winsford Cottage Hospital
The Winsford Cottage Hospital is a unique product of the Arts & Crafts period commissioned by Mrs Maria Louisa Medley in 1899 and designed by Charles Francis Annesley Voysey (1857 – 1941) and the building was a gift to the community on the death of her husband George Webb Medley and remains a community asset. The hospital itself is reported to be the best designed, best preserved example of a cottage hospital in England today.
As custodians of this unique building we need to gather as much information about its history as possible for the benefit of generations to come.
The afternoon will consist of ‘afternoon tea’ which will include traditional sandwiches, homemade cakes, beautifully decorated cupcakes and, of course, tea & coffee and homemade lemonade! The tea will be served under the marquee which will be placed on the lawn adjacent to the Winsford Cottage Hospital. Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us; however, if it is not then we shall serve afternoon tea in the Day Room which overlooks the gardens and the newly created Jubilee Border.
