On Sunday 17th June the annual 4th Halwill Open Gardens will take place between 2.00 – 6.00pm.
As usual the Winsford Centre will be the hub of the event; where tickets can be purchased and maps of the participating gardens can be collected. Refreshments – delicious cream teas, will be available from the Winsford Centre throughout the event where you can enjoy your comestibles under the marquee on the lawn. There will be a small selection of local produce stalls including a plant stall, run by one of the Winsford Trustees. This will include plants from members of the Halwill Garden Club who regularly meet at the Centre. All the produce is donated and all proceeds go to help and support the Winsford Trust.
There will be at least 6 gardens open ranging from very large ones with lakes to very small ones with raised beds full of delicious looking veg. One of the most interesting gardens opening is the Winsford Walled Garden, which, as its name suggests, was the walled garden of Winsford Towers, the home of the benefactress of the Winsford Cottage Hospital – Maria Webb-Medley. Hopefully the present owner, Dugald Stark, will have his studio finished by then and some of his superb paintings will be on show.
