Winsford Centre Main Activities
Twice weekly Day Care facilities for the over 50s (“the Luncheon Club”)
Open on Tuesday and Thursday only – due to funding and space limitations:
- Provision of transport on the Winsford community bus for all who wish to come to the centre and for external social activities.
- Supervised bathing for those who need help in taking a bath.
- Hot Meals
- Light refreshments.
- Newspapers & magazines
- Satellite library (Devon County Library)
- Professionally supervised exercise classes.
- In-house social activities.
- External social activities.
All organised by The Winsford Trust volunteers with help from certain outside professional organisations.
PLUS
A weekly GP Satellite surgery from Blake House Surgery, Black Torrington on Thursday afternoon.
Co-ordination centre for the Major Incident Response Team (Devon CC).
Provision of facilities for a weekly meeting of Headway Devon (the Brain Injury Association) for people in the local community with acquired brain injury – “Improving Life after Brain Injury”
Monthly outreach Baby Clinic (Holsworthy Health centre) on the last Thursday monthly.
UK On-Line Centre (with Broadband) courses include, CLAIT, SAGE & EXPLORE IT. (Some funded by the Learning Skills Council).
Scallywags (playgroup) use of computer suite for child technology teaching facilities.
Osteomyologist, acupuncturist and aroma-therapy clinics .
Member of the Community Council of Devon receiving funds (ROLI) to encourage local learning for minority groups.
Availability of modern office facilities for local community groups and small businesses.
Venue for the Halwill History Group.
Jigsaw library.
Marquee available for community and charity groups.
