Winsford – Vision For The Future
The Vision
To transform the Winsford Centre, using an approach that concentrates on releasing community energy, into a thriving centre for healthy, sustainable and enterprising village life. Drawing on the principles of Healthy Villages, this project brings together the concepts of wellbeing, community, building local networks, interagency collaboration and the active involvement of local people.
Mission
To ensure that this unique building, that was originally given to the community, remains in public ownership and provides a base for social, educational, health and leisure activities, including drop-in facilities for the use of all regardless of age or ability, together with opportunities that will enrich the life of the community and build on community strengths and partnerships.
Aims
To develop a vibrant centre, that is run by the community for the community, encouraging the participation of local volunteers to:
- enable community groups and people of all ages & abilities to utilise the facilities within the centre by providing a welcoming ambience, with ease of access for all.
- assist with the formation of self-help groups and community support programmes.
- develop social, education and health-related activities by promoting healthy lifestyles with regular health education programmes.
- support job seekers (of all ages & abilities) and promote community enterprise.
- create the trading arm of the Winsford Trust to generate income for the centre, through community enterprise and the celebration of the architectural and historical heritage of Voysey.
Future Use
- Maintain Winsford as a valuable asset for community use in accordance with its original remit.
- Develop the Heritage and unique Social History of the Centre.
- Research local history to create archive material for future generations.
- Link up with Arts & Crafts organisations, businesses, museums and enthusiasts.
- Promote the Voysey Room as a meeting place for The CFA Voysey Society, Arts & Crafts enthusiasts while maintaining its function as a space for conferences, training workshops and usage by other external groups.
- Encourage the use of Winsford as a source of learning for architectural students.
- Publicise the Centre as an important cultural building and visitor attraction
